West Kensington W14 SW6

Ok, it's not particularly central, and is a peculiar part of town, but there's four pubs with boards in walking distance of several different tube stations (and posher areas towards the centre appear to be virtually dart-free zones). Nearby areas: Victoria; Paddington (both about 3.5 miles away).

Recommended pubs

  • Old Oak 180 North End Road
    W14 9NX

The clientele may be a little mixed, but this is a proper pub run by darts people. Best of all, it's where Deta Hedman keeps several of her numerous trophies. Landlady Linda will give you a game (if she's not upstairs making Shepherd's Pie), and the only negative is that their Wednesday night team has never lost to The Exiles, my Wednesday night team.

  • Elm 206 North End Road
    W14 9NX

Just a few doors down from Old Oak, a friendly enough locals pub. Visited April 2010.

  • Live & Let Live 35-37 North End Road
    W14 8SZ

Board at the back of the bar partly obstructed by a pool table; for matches a second board is put up on the stage near the front entrance. Visited April 2010.

  • Norman Arms 197 Lillie Road
    SW6 7LW

Dark, dingy and probably empty. A last resort. Visited April 2010.
